As the Peak District District National Park Authority, our duty is to the care, enjoyment of and stewardship of the UK’s first National Park to be officially designated over 70 years ago. Today, we remain one of the largest, most multifaceted and dynamic National Parks in the UK, welcoming 13 million people annually to our location in the heart of the country.
Our people are our priority and our workforce includes 230 employees, 250 casual workers, 30 Members – who make up our various decision-making committees – and 800 volunteers. They are passionate and dedicated individuals with a strong commitment to deliver our vision. Our people continue to speak up for and care for the Peak District National Park, so everyone can enjoy it, forever. The importance of our role is still as important today as it was in 1951 when the Peak District was designated a National Park.
We care about the people we work with, are open, welcoming and respect differences. We take pride and feel good about our contribution, with the National Park purposes being at the heart of what we do. We are forward thinking and continuously look for ways to improve and innovate.
We believe that having a healthy work-life balance is important to the well-being of our employees. We have embraced a hybrid working model, so that employees can enjoy both remote and in-office collaboration, recognising that having that flexibility is important to organisational performance.
We aspire to be a learning organisation, and are committed to support the learning and development of our employees. Every year you will have a performance review, during which you and your manager will work together to look at your performance and put together a development plan that is individual to you. We provide opportunities for both job related and vocational training. We encourage self-development and have various resources available, including online learning, coaching and mentoring opportunities.
As an Investors In People employer, we aim every day to live our core organisational values of Care, Enjoy and Pioneer. Our values were developed by our people, from every part of the organisation. They define who we are, communicate what is important, shape organisational culture, drive organisational performance and bring us together as one team.
