We use the collective purchasing power of our customers, together with our commercial acumen, to get the best deals in the interests of taxpayers. The wider public sector is our key future market opportunity for growth with an estimated £60-70 billion of spend on common goods and services. It is our ambition to achieve £30bn of spend through our agreements over the next two years and in doing so deliver outstanding and continuously improving commercial benefits, underpinned by excellent public procurement policy.

I have worked at CCS for over 2 years now in my first public sector and also procurement role. From starting as a Category Executive, I have learnt how to manage, support, build and run a number of Frameworks and Dynamic Purchasing Systems for our suppliers and buyers.
Throughout my time I have been in charge of various areas, from editing and building the government website content, to helping suppliers and buyers use our frameworks, and taking the lead in creating and presenting tailored webinars for thousands of viewers. I have had a lot of space to grow and take ownership of projects, which has meant I have grown in confidence and my skillset has improved so much. On top of this the flexible and supportive work environments have meant I have always enjoyed working and felt proud of what we have achieved so far.
I joined CCS's Technology pillar in September 2020 as a Commercial Agreement Manager within the Networks team. It's fair to say that starting in the middle of a worldwide pandemic was indeed daunting and took a giant leap of faith that I was doing the right thing. I soon found I'd made the right decision with the warm welcome and support I received in those initial few months while getting up to speed.
The Technology pillar is a fast paced and interesting area of CCS to work. I've never had the same day twice and there's always an opportunity to make your mark. Every day I see great collaboration between my Network colleagues to strive to improve on past performance and exceed our corporate objectives for the year ahead. There are plentiful training opportunities to assist in supporting people to become the best version of themselves possible which are openly encouraged by the management team.
Working for CCS I'm also able to enjoy flexible working. My compressed working pattern ensures I get the most out of my work-life balance split and means that I can prioritise being there for not only our customers and suppliers but also to be in the front row of my children's nativity play.
I joined CCS in early 2018 as a Category Specialist. The first few months were a steep learning curve but my journey was made easier with the help and guidance of supportive colleagues in my team.
There are lots of training and development opportunities in CCS which has enabled me to grow my commercial knowledge and skills to perform better in my role. When I got the chance to shadow and support the project lead for procuring one of our agreements, I learned so much about our procurement processes that I was entrusted to be the project lead of its next iteration the following year. It gave me the necessary experience to progress my career and successfully get my current band 4 role.
The great collaboration that exists between colleagues and different teams have seen us pulling through together to achieve or even exceed our corporate objectives and the flexible working arrangements have allowed me to have a quality and healthy work-life balance.
I’m setting my sights now on completing CIPS Level 6 this year which CCS has supported me throughout my qualification journey by paying for my membership subscription and exam fees, tutoring sessions and study leave. I’m hopeful to be considered for promotion into band 5 in the future by gaining even more knowledge, skills and experience through training opportunities available in CCS.
I’ve worked at CCS for 2 and a half years and it is the first public sector role I have done. During this short time, I managed to be promoted to a band 3 role. This highlights how there are many interesting opportunities for career progression within CCS. I work within the technology solutions and outcomes category team, and I am lucky to work with such inspiring and supportive colleagues.
I am able to work across a range of projects and agreements within the software space and work is always dynamic and varied. I am able to challenge myself and learn a lot about the wider market by supporting my team across a range of agreements.
Our key focus is getting great value for money and commercial benefits for the public sector, which is really rewarding. There is also great flexibility with working hours and adaptation to hybrid working.
