The original PageGroup brand, Michael Page, was founded in 1976. When Michael Page and Bill McGregor set up an office above a launderette in London their mission was to place qualified accountants into permanent roles in the Capital. By 1980, they had expanded their operations with office openings in Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester. They trained and employed 50+ recruitment consultants, made a gross profit in excess of £3m and, due to the large volume of clients on their books, had become the Financial Times largest advertiser.   
In the 1980s, the brand went international with offices in France, the Netherlands and Australia. Headcount exceeded 400 employees and gross profit hit £16m. Michael Page became listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1988. 
The Accountancy Additions brand was launched in the UK in 1992. Michael Page also launched its first website in 1997, and in the same year, Michael Page International was acquired by Interim Services Inc. The 1990s also saw further expansion in Asia-Pacific (Hong Kong and Singapore) and Europe (Germany, Italy and Spain) plus the opening of its first office in North America (USA). 
Between 2000 and 2009 the third generation of the Michael Page website launched and Accountancy Additions was rebranded as Page Personnel
The global Page Executive website launched in 2012. Since 2010 the brands have continued to expand globally with office openings in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, India, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and the UAE. That global presence exists on social media too with LinkedIn recognising PageGroup as the Most Socially Engaged Recruitment Company in the world in 2015. 
The Group now employs in excess of 5,600 people in 35 countries and reports a gross profit of over £550m. The three core PageGroup brands are made up of specialised recruitment teams that operate across 25 disciplines from actuarial to technology. The Michael Page team specialise in the recruitment of temporary, contract and permanent roles typically at second and third job level upwards. Page Personnel is a recruitment partner for businesses requiring clerical support. Page Executive is the executive search division of the Group specialising in search, selection and talent management of senior professionals on a permanent or interim basis.
