About Us

We are the UK member firm of Baker Tilly International. Here at MHA, part of our ethos is to take the time to create great relationships with our clients to become not just their trusted advisers, but valued partners that face the future together. We specialise in numerous sectors including Technology, Consumer including Retail, Construction & Real Estate, Crypto, Motor, Renewables, Pharmaceuticals, Media & Entertainment and Financial Services and many more! We work in partnership with clients ranging from entrepreneurs and individuals to multi-national corporations, FTSE 100’s and high net worth individuals.  Our partnership with BTI enables us to give clients all the international support they might need, plus it provides secondment opportunities for our staff!  So no two days are the same!

As a firm, we care about our people and provide many financial and non-financial rewards to ensure everyone feels valued for the work they do. In order to support our staff with the higher cost of living, in December 2022 all employees received an additional 3% pay increase, plus £500 bonus. This is in addition to bonuses and pay increases received throughout the year and came at a cost of almost £2 million which had the full support of our Partners and Management Board.

Our Employees

We are a diverse, inclusive firm and importantly, we are all here to help each other. You cannot deliver great service to your clients, without great service within your team. We are a busy, growing firm, so your days will be full, challenging and varied, but we have fun along the way. Our Partners are approachable, knowledgeable and open to listening to new, innovative ideas. We love creativity and spark.

Office Culture

Our London office is based in London Wall Place; this is a new destination in the City of London, offering an acre of new landscaped gardens set between two statement office buildings. Perfectly positioned, close to Moorgate and Barbican station and a short walk from shops and eateries, there is plenty to do during lunch! Assuming you can bear to leave the amazing coffee machine in the staff room, which also boasts the best view in the building. The office is fully open plan and lends itself perfectly to collaboration and learning across teams. Our staff enjoy a flexible working pattern, but we believe in making days in the office meaningful, so it’s always busy with great conversations.

We walk the walk on ESG. Our building is designed with sustainability in mind, with rainwater toilets, the latest environmentally efficient heating, cooling and ventilation systems as well as lighting.

Career Development

We offer award-winning training, including a raft of technical, soft skill and leadership courses, available on demand and in person. We are a training firm and we believe development shouldn’t stop when you qualify. This is why we offer a 24-month post qualification training pathway, which is tailored to you! In 2022, we won the GOLD standard in Investors in People.

Investors in People (IIP) is a globally recognised standard for people management, with the philosophy of making work life better in companies, to deliver an engaged and high performing workforce. Whether it is Partnership you want to aim for, or lateral moves to grow your skills base, we can support your goals.

Brand Values

We say we're ambitious, but here's the evidence; we’ve grown more than 100% in the last nine years. Importantly, this means we're creating sustainable career paths for those who are part of our journey.

We value your opinions, your ideas and ability to innovate. After all, it's your ideas that can help us improve client service or find more efficient ways of working.

Our own values of Service, Teamwork, Attitude and Relationships help us create a successful working environment and underpin how our people and clients experience MHA. These values are integral to ensuring our people are engaged and motivated and are evident in everyday working life at the Firm.

Meet the team

Hannah Black
Senior Audit Manager

Hannah joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson as an Audit Manager just before lockdown; here she shares her experiences so far, tell us what the firm’s culture is like and details of her work as part of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

"The firm promotes the importance of maintaining a work-life balance and within my team we are all very mindful of each other’s wellbeing. There will always be times of the year which are more stressful and where there are numerous deadlines all at once, but I feel comfortable asking for help if I am struggling. I know my colleagues will do what they can to help me out.

I really enjoy the social aspect of working here, as I am part of a great team. I love the opportunities I am given, whether presenting to potential new clients or working with international members of our global Baker Tilly network. If you show that you are willing to work hard, opportunities will come your way and that is something I really appreciate.
I sit on the EDI committee. This was set up to try to improve the overall diversity across the firm and to try to make the workplace as inclusive as possible. We meet regularly to discuss the progress we are making in these two areas and to come up with new ways to try to promote both diversity and inclusion.

I know, certainly in the past, the profession was traditionally more male dominated, and I feel fortunate that I have never felt any sort of disadvantage in terms of my career advancement. To me, it is important that everyone is given the same opportunities to progress."

Guy Hodgkinson
From Trainee to Partner

Guy began his accounting career with MHA MacIntyre Hudson as a trainee in the Northampton office; he is now a Partner.

"I joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson as I wanted to be part of a firm that I could feel part of and do my bit to help it grow. When I joined, we were the 19th largest UK accountancy practice and now we’re the 12th. The firm’s values and ambitions are aligned with my own. Being ambitious I was given a career path with clear goals which put me on a pathway to Partner. Similarly, I have seen colleagues whose priorities differ to mine and are focused on a career which suits their lifestyle and outside commitments. This firm does not just put you into a box, or promotion path based on length of time served. It is a flexible approach.

The Culture

Partners and senior management have always been honest and transparent, so I knew where I stood which built a lot of trust. The people are what makes it a great firm – supportive and inclusive. You join with people your own age, there is a togetherness and people in the same boat as you. As the largest accountancy practice in Northampton there is such an eclectic mix of people and always someone there to help you no matter what the problem."
